Some clients need more than a single assessment.
They face ongoing exposure, recurring uncertainty, or situations that evolve over time. They want someone they can call when something doesn’t feel right — without having to start from scratch each time.
The Defuse Advisory is a retained relationship built around judgement, continuity, and foresight.
It exists for clients who want clarity on an ongoing basis — not just when a crisis arrives.

The Principle
Issues are addressed while still manageable — before they require visible security measures, lifestyle changes, or public response.
Retained oversight means you don’t have to monitor risk yourself, decisions are made with context rather than urgency, and small issues stay small.
How it works
The Defuse Advisory is retained for a minimum of twelve months.
It begins with a comprehensive Digital Exposure Assessment, which establishes a clear baseline of your current visibility and any immediate concerns. From there, the relationship centres on one thing: ensuring you always know where you stand.
You have direct access to Philip Grindell and, where appropriate, to specialists within our network — including our Chartered Forensic Psychologist for complex behavioural matters.
We fit around your life, your schedule, and your existing advisers. We don’t create work for the sake of it. We provide oversight, assessment, and guidance when it matters — and stay quietly in the background when it doesn’t.
Who is The Defuse Advisory for?
The Defuse Advisory is designed for:
- Individuals and families with sustained public exposure or media attention
- Those who have experienced concerning behaviour and want ongoing monitoring
- Clients going through transitions — transactions, restructuring, succession — where risk may evolve
- Anyone who simply wants the reassurance of knowing someone is watching
It is not for everyone. We work with a small number of retained clients at any one time, and we are selective by design. This protects quality, discretion, and the depth of the relationship that makes the work effective.
The Pathway
Many clients come to us through the Digital Exposure Assessment first.
That assessment shows you exactly what personal information is publicly accessible and provides a clear action plan. For clients who proceed to The Defuse Advisory, the assessment fee is credited against the engagement.
This allows you to experience how we work before committing to an ongoing relationship.
Our Commitment
